The coin’s reverse design features a representation of a pig in authentic Australian opal. The gemstone centre is embedded within a silver coin depicting stylised leaves and flowers. The inscription ‘YEAR OF THE PIG’ and the Chinese character for pig is also included in the design, together with the 2019 year-date, the coin’s weight and fineness and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
