The Australian Stock Horse has been especially bred for Australian conditions. It is a hardy breed of horse noted for its endurance, agility and agreeable temperament. While its ancestry dates to the arrival of the first horses in Australia, today it is used in a wide variety of equestrian disciplines, and is also still highly valued as a working horse by stockmen throughout Australia.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver.
The coin’s reverse portrays an Australian Stock Horse grazing amid a rural landscape. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE, the 2016 year-date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on the coin’s obverse.
The Perth Mint will issue no more than 1,000 of the 2016 Australian Stock Horse 1oz Silver Coin in Card in this packaging from a maximum mintage of 10,000.
Each coin is released in a presentation card which portrays a rural property at sunset.
