50th Anniversary of the Shinkansen 100 Yen Commemorative Clad Coin (Non Silver Coins), Japan, 2016, 4.8g x 5

Description

The Japan Mint has struck legal tender 100 yen clad coins to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first Shinkansen train line. They are the first commemorative 100 yen coins ever in the past 39 years.

This coin set contains the five coins whose obverses depict representative Shinkansen trains of Tokaido, Sanyo, Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku lines, and whose reverses commonly carry an image of the first Shinkansen, “0-series”.

*In addition to the five coins included in this coin set, four more coins for the other four Shinkansen lines will be issued in 2016 under this coin program.
