Featuring historic travel posters from the post-war era, the new Australia Vintage Travel Poster series features designs which capture the essence of Australia’s national identity using brilliant colour depictions of the country’s unique flora and fauna, wide-open landscapes, and sun-drenched beaches.
The silver rectangle coin features a coloured representation of Dame Eileen Mayo’s iconic ‘Australia’ (Kangaroo) poster, first released in 1957, headed by the inscription VINTAGE TRAVEL.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2014 year-date on the obverse.
No more than 5,000 of the Australia Vintage Travel Poster – Kangaroo 2014 1oz Silver Proof Rectangle Coin will be released by The Perth Mint.
The coin is housed in a stylish latex case that displays the coin’s reverse and obverse. It is presented in a themed shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
