Celebrating 25 years of the iconic red kangaroo design, these spectacular gold coins feature the original artistry by Dr Stuart Devlin AO CMG, goldsmith and jeweller to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The iconic red kangaroo design, featured on this 25th anniversary commemorative, was originally introduced as part of the Australian Nugget coin program as the new theme for the 1989 Proof Issue.
Each coin is meticulously struck from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse portrays a bounding red kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight and bordered by the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO 1oz. 9999 GOLD, the year-dates 1989 – 2014, and a special Perth Mint mintmark ‘P25’ signifying 25 years since the design was first introduced.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2014 year-date are shown on the coin’s obverse.
The 2014 gold releases are available in an individual 1oz and 1/4oz coin or in a stunning five-coin collection comprising 1oz, 1/2oz 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz issues.
No more than 600 individual 1oz coins and 1,600 individual 1/4oz coins will be issued from their maximum mintages of 1,500 and 2,000 respectively. Only 200 Five-Coin Collections will be released in this packaging.
Each coin and five-coin collection is housed in a special black and timber-inspired display case, illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
