The second release in this special new series celebrating the unique bond between a mother and her offspring in the animal kingdom, features an Asian elephant and her calf.
Each coin is meticulously struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse depicts a coloured elephant calf locking trunks with its mother surrounded by jungle palms. The inscription ASIAN ELEPHANT and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Issued a legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin’s obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the monetary denomination.
The coin is housed in a display case and box-shipper portraying stunning imagery, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 4,500 of the Mother’s Love – Asian Elephant 2014 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin in this packaging, from a maximum mintage of 6,000.
