The final release in the Mythical Creatures coin series portrays the formidable dragon.
According to ancient mythology, the dragon resembles a great winged serpent with an armoured hide and was believed to be the most powerful creature on Earth.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint on behalf of Coin Club Australia from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The reverse of the coin portrays a coloured dragon guarding piles of treasure including coins, a crown, a chalice and jewels. A medieval style banner displays a silhouette of a dragon and the monetary denomination, with the inscription ‘dragon’ featured on a scroll.
The Mythical Creatures – Dragon 2014 1oz Silver Proof Coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2014 year-date on its obverse.
Just 5,000 of these Mythical Creatures – Dragon coins will be released.
The coin is housed in a brown presentation case and illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Coin Club Australia will make a donation of $1 to UNICEF-Australia for each coin purchased in this series.
