ABOUT THE PHOENIX
In ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology, the phoenix is a bird believed to be connected to the sun. Tradition tells that only one phoenix is alive at any one time, with the majestic creature reincarnating itself from fire and arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Thought to symbolise renewal and being a friend to humans, scholars have observed similar creatures across many cultures throughout the ages.
The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured phoenix rising up from flames of fire. A medieval style banner displays a silhouette of a phoenix and the monetary denomination, with the inscription ‘phoenix’ featured on a scroll at the base of the design. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2013 year-date.
This coin is housed in a brown Coin Club presentation case and illustrated shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
