The first coin in the new Norse Goddesses series features Freya, the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, battle and death. Freya was also considered a symbol of sensuality and of the wile and untamed forces of nature.
99.99% Pure Silver
The coin is struck from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver.
High Relief Design with Antique Finish
The reverse of the coin depicts Freya with her sword in her left hand and wearing her magical feathered cloak. Also featured in the design is a cat perched on her right shoulder, her golden bristled boar ‘Hildisvini’, a shield, and a battlefield in the background. The inscription FREYA and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark also feature in the design.
Tuvalu Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination.
To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format, and has been individually ‘antiqued’ to give it a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin may vary.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,000 of the Norse Goddesses – Freya 2017 2oz Silver Antiqued High Relief Coin.
Presentation Packaging with Numbered Certificate
