Polar Babies: Arctic Fox, Tuvalu, 2017, 1/2oz, .9999

$335

The third coin in the Polar Babies series features the Arctic fox. This carnivorous creature can be found in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Russia, Norway, Scandinavia and Iceland and is perfectly adapted to live in subzero temperatures.

While the Arctic fox is most recognisable by its white coat, during the different seasons the fox’s coat changes colour. It is known to become darker during summer to blend in with the background of rock and vegetation when the ice and snow of winter have melted. In winter, their coat grows thicker and whiter so that they may be camouflaged against the snowy, frozen background.

Proof Quality 99.99% Pure Silver

The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality.

Cute Arctic Fox Design

The coin’s reverse features an Arctic fox pup sitting in the bush. The inscription ARCTIC FOX and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.

Tuvalu Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination.

Limited Mintage

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Polar Babies – Arctic Fox 2017 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
