Dorothea Mackellar’s My Country is one of Australia’s most widely recited and beloved poems.
Inspired by her experiences on the family’s rural properties near Gunnedah and the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Dorothea’s poetry reflected a love and appreciation for the variety and beauty of the Australian bush and country living.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse depicts a colour image of a kookaburra perched on a eucalyptus branch with mountain ranges in the background. The design includes the inscription I LOVE A SUNBURNT COUNTRY…OF RAGGED MOUNTAIN RANGES and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
This coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2015 year-date, on each coin’s obverse.
