Celebrated with a silver Piedfort coin
A rare moment in royal history
Since Her Majesty The Queen ascended the throne in 1952 aged just 25, her reign has been characterised by her customary grace and fortitude. She has reshaped the monarchy for modern times, and the warmth her people feel for their queen is never more evident than during her birthday celebrations. In 2016 Her Majesty turns 90, becoming the first British monarch to reach this milestone, and people across the world will celebrate with the Royal Family once again.
As history is made, The Royal Mint is delighted to issue this Piedfort coin, its double-thickness sterling silver adding to the sense of occasion. Finished to Proof standard, it features an original design by Christopher Hobbs inspired by Her Majesty’s love of flowers and approved by The Queen herself. Housed in a polished black case, the coin is accompanied by a booklet that reveals more about the royal birthday celebrations and the inspiration behind the celebratory design.
