The Monkey King is brought to life in brilliant colour on this silver bullion coin. The legend of the Monkey King, Sun Wu Kong, is told in the Chinese novel Journey to the West. He is bold, daring, mischievous and rebellious.

Journey to the West is based on the monk Xuan Zang’s journey to India to retrieve Buddhist scriptures and follows the adventures, conflicts, and triumphs he has with the Monkey King and other pilgrims.

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, and 2016. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be intelligent, quick-witted, optimistic, ambitious, and adventurous.

The coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver.

The reverse of the coin depicts a coloured image of the Monkey King on a chair against a backdrop of mountains and clouds, with two young monkeys. The design includes the Chinese symbol for monkey and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2016 Monkey King 1oz Silver Coloured Coin in this packaging out of the maximum mintage of 100,000.

The coin is housed in a classic grey presentation case and illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Celebrating the Year of the Goat, this four-coin set is a prestigious and exceptionally limited offering from The Perth Mint.

In 2015, we celebrate the eighth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar goat include 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be elegant, charming, artistic, gifted and calm.

Each of the four coins is meticulously struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.

The reverse of each rectangle coin celebrates the 2015 Year of the Goat with a design to showcase one of four different coloured goats. Viewed together, the background of each coin joins to form a picturesque scene. The Chinese character for ‘goat’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Goat’ also appear in each design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of the Cook Islands, the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 3,000 of the 2015 Year of the Goat 1oz Silver Proof Four-Coin Set.

Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the four-coin set is housed in a contemporary black framed clear display case, allowing you to see both the reverse and obverse of each coin, and is packaged in an illustrated shipper.
